Hill Health Center

Hill Health Center facility on Dixwell Avenue in New Haven

A pediatric office suite in the Dixwell Health Center Satellite of New Haven’s Hill Health Corporation received a new coat of paint recently, providing an opportunity for Pfizer colleagues to again demonstrate their sense of community through the generosity of volunteerism.

Hill Health Corporation, a private non-profit organization, has been serving the health care needs of low income and disadvantaged individuals in the greater New Haven area since 1968. With 18 locations throughout the city and surrounding communities, Hill Health, a federally qualified health center, provides comprehensive medical services to a broad client base.

In the Dixwell facility, a large office suite slated for a pediatric practice was in desperate need of paint and some dry wall work. Beginning in late March through mid-April, several teams of Pfizer colleagues spent time hanging dry wall, patching and preparing surfaces, and applying several coats of fresh paint.

From the waiting room (purple) to the reception area (green) to the many exam rooms and physician’s office (all white), the overall effect was one of brightness and renewal. As with other company supported community activities in New Haven, the work done at Hill Health allows Pfizer, through the actions of its employees and contract partners, to express its commitment to the city in a very tangible way.

Clinical and Project Engineering staff from the New Haven Research Unit made significant manpower contributions. Ed Wisniewski, of Project Engineering, expertly installed the much-needed dry wall while working with the advance group that prepared the space for painting by washing walls, removing fixtures and electrical coverings and patching any holes in the walls.

Individuals from the SLAM Collaborative and Whiting Turner, the New Haven Research Unit’s architectural and construction firms, respectively, donated their time and painting talents. Additional volunteers came from Clinical R & D, Development Technology Services, Procurement, Strategic Facility Planning, and Facility Management Engineering.

The pediatric practice in the Dixwell Health Center Satellite facility is expected to open its doors to patients and their families in mid-to-late Spring, and will join the other patient services available at this location.
